At our annual Piano Olympics Alexander Peskanov evaluated students on all seven levels of the Russian Technical Regimen. Some students had worked on the regimen as little as three weeks. Others have been studying it ever since the beginning of their piano lessons. Niki was the first student ever to complete all the requirements of the highest level of the regimen. Here she is, playing chromatic double sixths in both parallel and contrary motion, with Mr. Peskanov at the second piano. He told us, “When I first put together the regimen for Piano Olympics, it was my dream to play chromatic double sixths like this with a student.” Judging from the happy faces all day and especially in our closing ceremony, a lot of dreams came true that day.
